# How to Talk to the AI?
## Basics
### The simplest way
To start a conversation with the AI, simply ping the bot. You can put your message before or after the ping. For example, "Hello"
After that you can reply to its messages without pinging it

If the bot doesn't have the `Send Messages` and `Read Message History` permissions, it will message the owner about the need to add these permissions

### Clearing the chat
The bot can remember all messages created while talking with the AI, from one ping to the next. In other words, the chat is cleared whenever you ping it again
Also, if you delete a message during the conversation, the bot will forget it from the chat history
### Chatting in DMs
You can message the bot in DMs for private conversations. If this is your first time messaging it in DMs, you should see this
Don't worry, just ping the bot once more. Using AI chat in DMs is no different from chatting on a server
## Additional features
### Image generation
Ask the AI to generate an image anywhere in the conversation — at the start or in the middle, it doesn't matter. Be sure to specify what you want generated

Prompts for image generation through AI chat are composed by the AI itself, based on your messages

To write the prompt yourself, use /generate\_image

Generation of inappropriate images will be declined by the bot

This feature can be used once every 5 minutes
### Coding

This feature is deprecated and has been removed from the bot

We recommend using claude-haiku-4.5 for coding tasks

Ask for any code anywhere in the conversation — at the start or in the middle
Sometimes Russian characters may look garbled. This is because Discord most likely detected a different file encoding
### Web search
The bot has built-in search support. You can ask it to look something up, for example, the news
Sometimes the bot might not search the internet, and you'll need to start your message with the word "search" to activate search mode
### Extended memory
RBot has memory that isn't cleared after every ping — instead, it's stored permanently. You can tell it, for example: "Remember that you should greet me"
If your memory already contains more than 1000 characters, it won't save your new requests
To clear your memory, go to /profile
In the "What the AI remembers about you" section, find the clear button and click it
### Model selection
You can set which model to use for AI chat via the /change\_model command

### Polls
The AI can survey you about what you want from it, using Discord polls
